In late 1997, Alleco designed and constructed a unique, high production excavating system to service its raw material requirements.  This system can reach out approx. 800 feet and dig 150 feet below the water level.  Changing the positions of the sky line which support the drag bucket can be accomplished within one hour which allows this versatile excavating system to dig in a radius of approx. 240 degrees with an overall pit diameter in excess of 1500 feet.  This system allows Alleco to optimize recovery of its reserves and maintain the facility as a long term viable resource in the community.   The mast on the excavator towers over 120 feet high.  The 10 to 12 yard system dwarfs front end loaders as seen below.
